TAMU Poultry Institute for Youth Summer 2010 Texas A&M University |

Texas A&M University in conjunction with the Texas A&M Poultry Science Department, the Poultry Science Club, and the Poultry Science Aggie Leadership Council are the sponsors for the 2010 TAMU Poultry Institute for Youth. The institute will be held on the Texas A&M campus. The dates are Sunday, June 20 through Wednesday, June 23, 2010. The purpose of this program is to give high school students with an interest in learning about the poultry industry a chance to gain first hand knowledge. They will have the opportunity to meet both Texas A&M staff and Texas poultry industry leaders. A portion of the institute will also include hands on work with birds and areas of leadership.
Eligibility:
1) Students who will be enrolled the Fall of 2010 as high school juniors or seniors,or college freshmen.
2) Have a definite interest in the poultry industry.
3) Are willing to speak to other individuals/groups about the poultry industry through public appearances.
4) Interested in devoting four days to meeting with individuals from Texas A&M University and the Texas poultry industry.
Cost:
A $50 fee will be required for each participant. Do not send with application. All other expenses, except transportation to and from College Station, will be paid by Texas A&M University.
Applications:
Copies of a resume and applications should be returned to Jennifer Albert, Poultry Science Department, Texas A&M University, 2472 TAMU, College Station, TX 778432472, no later than Friday, May 7, 2010.
Selection procedure:
Twenty-Four participants will be selected by members of the Texas A&M Poultry Institute staff. Alternates will also be selected. Eligible participants will be selected on the basis of their applications and resumes. Notification letters will be sent out no later than Monday, May 17, 2010.
